Wow-factor winter weddings Winter weddings can be unforgettable. Think velvets, faux furs, rich colours, candlelight inside and wild skies outside.
Some of the most spectacular weddings here at Shottle Hall have been held at this time of year and they really light up the heart of winter.
When you're planning a winter or festive wedding, you can indulge in a little fantasy. How about a glittery, sparkling Narnia theme, with lots of frosty white, icy sequins and soft faux fur?
Or a nostalgic Dickensian look with bright reds, deep greens, shimmery gold and rich, warm colours?
Of course you will have to factor in the big chill, but there are lots of stylish ways to keep you and your bridesmaids both beautiful and cosy - from fur-trimmed boleros to cosy capes.
You can add some winter warmer touches to the menu such as pumpkin soup and consider serving mulled wine, or hot toddies, to warm up guests as they arrive.
Look for an all-white cake, decorated with snowflake patterns, silver embellishments, or sugar sculptures. And Christmas decorations or snow globes make perfect favours for guests at this time of year.
We might be biased, but we think Shottle Hall transforms beautifully into a magical grotto of twinkling fairy lights and flickering candles.
And consider copying one couple who transformed Shottle into a winter wonderland during their speeches – thanks to the hire of a snow machine. We’d love to hear from you if you got married at Christmas or in the winter. Do you have any tips for our winter brides and grooms?
