Shabby Chic Wedding Theme
Vintage shabby chic wedding theme - and how to create it!
There is no doubting the popularity of weddings that are planned with a shabby chic vintage theme these days.
In fact, a country house like ours lends itself perfectly to the theme and is drawing fans of all things vintage like moths to a shabby chic lantern!
Already we’ve seen some fabulous table decorations with lanterns and birdcages, vintage-style ceramic cake stands, candelabras and mirrors with tealights and candles.
And some really alternative vintage shabby chic table centres have included old floral print watering cans filled with lavender to create a simple, but truly effective, look.
To create the vintage shabby chic feel at your wedding, think of bygone eras of the Fifties combined with a touch of French chic.
What is fabulous about this theme is the mix and match approach to creating the look. There is no need for clean lines or matching material – it’s all about creating a wonderful wedding theme from leftovers.
We’ve known brides to scour car boot sales and charity shops to find suitable table decorations, favours and even mismatched floral crockery to add to the shabby chic theme.
And the vintage look doesn’t have to stop with the reception. Take inspiration from vintage floral prints (Cath Kidston-style) for your bridesmaids and think short Fifties style wedding dresses with lace, pearls and a birdcage veil.
Ask your photographer if he can give your pictures a retro-finish and consider hiring a classic car from the Fifties for your getaway vehicle.
There’s literally no limit to the shabby chic theme: although you may want to draw the line at the vintage 1950s honeymoon at Blackpool!
