Twilight Bella's Wedding Dress
Bella played by Kristen Stewart
Forget Kate and William, for many the wedding of the year must surely be that of Twilight’s Bella and Edward.
And just days after The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn, Part 1 screened to rapturous success - bringing in a massive $139.5 million on its opening weekend - an imitation version of Bella Swan's wedding dress has gone on sale in stores.
Here at Shottle Hall we reckon 2011 has been one of the biggest years for the wedding dress – not since Princess Diana stepped out of her fairytale carriage at St Paul’s Cathedral have wedding dresses made so many headlines.
From the triumphant Royal Wedding gown created by Sarah Burton for Kate Middleton, to the slip of 1930’s decadence made for Kate Moss, and from the over-the-top frills worn by Kim Kardashian for her short-lived wedding to the bottom-skimming bridesmaid dress worn by Pippa Middleton it has been bridal mania all round.
Kristen Stewart's Twilight gown was the responsibility of Venezuelan fashion designer Carolina Herrera, who gave the vampire's lover old-world elegance with a long-sleeved silk dress, complete with lace detailing on the sleeves and a cut-out illusion back.
Buttons run the length of the back of the 'Edwardian inspired' gown, which according to Hollywood Life is valued at $35,000. A demure V-shaped neckline shows Bella's décolletage without exposing too much skin.
Both the dress and its accompanying specially-designed Manolo Blahnik jewel-encrusted shoes are set to go on sale as part of the designers' 2012 collections.
The Alfred Angelo replica, costing a more reasonable $799, stays faithful to the original, but opts for liquid satin instead of silk.
We’d love to hear if you’ll be following in Bella’s footsteps and vamping it up on your own wedding day? Or is that something only Twihards would consider sinking their teeth into?
