News that Kim Kardashian and her new husband Kris Humphries are to divorce after just 72 days has saddened us all here at Shottle Hall.

Not because they have split up: the only surprise is the amount of time the not-so-shock announcement took to happen.

But we are sad because it seems they used their marriage as money-making exercise. In fact, it is said to have netted the former couple $18million, which works out at a staggering $138,888 per day of the marriage.

Some of our brides and grooms save for years to fund the most important day of their lives. They make sacrifices and occasionally cut corners so that they can have the day they have always dreamed about.

For our couples a wedding is about celebrating their love for each other in front of the people who truly care about them.

This is why it’s sad to see two people exploiting the sanctity of marriage for the sake of television ratings and financial gain.

Of course everyone here at Shottle knows that love is all you need.

It’s a shame no-one told Kim and Kris.
