Happy New Year from Shottle Hall

It’s been a big year for weddings at Shottle Hall.
We reckon we’ve had more people tying the knot during 2011 than ever
before – and we‘ve loved every minute of it.
Of
course, one of the biggest celebrations we held wasn’t even for one of
ours – instead, we held a garden fete and wheeled out the TV to watch
Prince William and Kate Middleton (whose lookalikes appeared at Shottle
Hall in February) get married way back in April.
Elsewhere,
we’ve hosted many an event that’ll enter Shottle Hall folklore,
including the celebrations for Steve Simms and bridal model Emma O’Regan
– a woman who has worn more than a thousand wedding dresses in her time
before finally stepping into her own.
Then
there was the wonderful Kirsty Paul and Sam Beresford, who set a record
for the number in their wedding party, with no fewer than 10 groomsmen
and 10 bridesmaids to help them on their big day.
Their
record may stand for some time, but our bulging bookings diary shows us
that plenty more big days await us in 2012, with lots of excitement to
come.
But,
for now, our thoughts are turning to Christmas because, although we
enjoy tucking into mince pies and slipping into a patterned woolly
jumper as much as anyone else, we love this time of the year for
something else- the sheer romance of it all.
Yes,
it’s not just Santa Claus and Baby Jesus who make an appearance on
December 25 – Cupid is also lurking for love-struck lovebirds, many of
whom will brush aside the discarded wrapping paper and get down on one
knee on Christmas Day.
And
then, a week later, there’s the New Year’s Eve proposal. Michael Douglas
did it. Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding did it, and so did Russell Brand.
This year, it will not just be champagne corks that’ll be popping when
Big Ben strikes 12 – all over the country, men and women will be popping
the question too.
It’s
marvellous, and congratulations if it happens to you. In fact, to give
you an early helping hand in your wedding planning, we’ve arranged a
special weddings open day here at Shottle Hall on January 15.
With photographers, cake-makers and florists in attendance, it’s the perfect starting point, so keep posted for more details.
In the mean time, everyone at Shottle Hall wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy (and romantic) New Year.
