A decent proposal?
It is quite possibly the most important question you will ever ask – or answer – so it’s no surprise that sometimes a marriage proposal might leave you tongue-tied.
Often a wedding proposal has been months in the planning, with covert trips to the jewellers and the pressure to make the big moment memorable.
So it’s reassuring to know that even super cool celebrities can get an attack of the nerves once they are on bended knee.
JLS star Marvin Humes proposed to his girlfriend Rochelle Wiseman during a New Year’s holiday in the Maldives, but has revealed that popping the question turned him into a “stuttering and stumbling” wreck.
Marvin may appear to be a super smooth operator with a glamorous pop star girlfriend – but it’s nice to know that when it comes to matters of the heart he is just like the rest of us. He told Hello magazine: “I can’t tell you how many times I’d rehearsed what to say, but when the moment came to speak it all went to pieces – the only time I’ve ever messed my words up!
“I was stuttering and stumbling. ‘I want to make you the happiest man… No, I mean I want you to make me the happiest man’. It was getting all confused.”
Marvin isn’t the only star to have faltered while popping the question. Destiny's Child star and X-Factor judge Kelly Rowland revealed that when her fiance proposed he asked her to be his "husband".
She called off her engagement to retired footballer Roy Williams some months later – but we’re assured it wasn’t because he fluffed his lines!
